Ours
is an era of industrialization and rapid development. India stands on the
threshold of 21-st century and technical revolution is the key word in every
field. To maintain the lead Maharashtra state government decided to permit
setup of private engineering colleges and polytechnics in 1983. To this
effect our Hon. Dajisaheb Rohidas C. Patil, cabinate minister of Maharashtra
state with his pursuance and special efforts got permission to setup this
institute in July 1983, vide letter No. 10/TU/108335362 Dtd. 08/07/1983 from
the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Shri Shivaji Vidya Prasarak
Sansthas Bapusaheb Shivajirao Deore College of Engineering, Dhule (renamed
in August 1996), formerly Shri
Shivaji Vidya Prasarak Sansthas College of Engineering, Dhule, was established in 1983, under
the inspiration of Founder Chairman Late Shri Bapusaheb Shivaji Raimal Deore,
with the intention of providing
technical education to the aspiring and eligible candidates of the state and
the region. Then since 1988 the college excelled in all directions under the
chairmanship of Hon. Subhash S. Deore.

Since its inception, the institute has made a significant
progress. Initially in 1983, the institute started Bachelor of Engineering course with the two
traditional branches of Civil Engineering and Electronics Engineering with
intake of 60 in each branches. It was initially affiliated to Poona
University. After the establishment of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon
in 1990, the institute was affiliated to the new
University. The institute is approved by AICTE.
In 1986 Mechanical Engineering branch was introduced with intake of 60. In
view of the increasing importance of the Computer Engineering and Electronics
Engineering discipline, in 1988 Computer Engineering branch was introduced
with intake of 60 and intake of Electronics Engineering was revised to 120.
As a commitment to the society and its role in the emerging Information
technology era, in 1999 Electronics and Communication branch was started with
an intake of 60, intake of Computer Engineering branch was revised to 120 in
2000 and Information Technology branch was introduced in 2001.

After
consolidating these courses in undergraduate program, Post Graduate course was introduced in the year 2004-05 by
starting Master Degree course in Civil Engineering (Building Science &
Technology) with an intake of 18. To add a new dimension to itself the
institute has started a two year / four semesters Post Graduate Degree in
Management Studies in 2007-08.

Civil
Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were
accredited by Institute of Engineers (India) in 2002 by Ref. No. EEA/AD/R-85A dtd. September 25th,
2002 and Computer Engineering was accredited by Institute of Engineers (India)
in 2004 by Ref. No. EEA/AD/03(B) dtd. April 27th, 2004. Further Civil Engineering, Electronics
Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were accredited by NBA for 3 yrs by
Ref. No. NBA/ACCR-166/2003 dtd December 22nd, 2003.

The institute has gained regional status by producing quality technocrats
to cherish its long term vision and mission. The institute has produced more than 4000 engineering graduates since its
inception. Most of the ex-students of the institute are serving in highly responsible positions in Government,
semi-government and private organizations in India and abroad.
